But from spain.... posted by: Sharon (reply) post date: 08.14.06 (2:07 pm) I received something similar (snail mail) from "TLC Lottery" stating that "after numerous attempts to reach you by phone had failed, we are pleased to inform you through this letter that our network/system shows you as the winner of unclaimed winning prize money in the amount of $55,000.00 .... the system indicates that you were selected as a winner on May 3, 2006" It goes on to say that their "payment office located in North America is responsible for the processing of your winnings & that all prize money must be claimed no later than August 29th, 2006. After this date, all unclaimed funds will be channeled to different charity organizations." The next part of the letter goes on to explain "the existence of International Laws that ensure legal collection of cash prizes. This International Law ensures that a winner pays a processing fee before the funds are released. This same law also prevents you from paying the fees out of your own pocket. These fees will be deducted from your total prize amount. Be advised, your Reference Number #######, must be confidential until your claim is completed. This is to avoid double claiming which will disqualify you." The end of the letter gives the name and phone number to contact my "International claims agent". Upon receiving this letter, I immediately wrote to the Postmaster General as well as contacted my local post office. Have heard nothing from the P.G., and the lady at the local post office said she wasn't sure if it was legit or not!! While I could sure use 55,000.00, I would have felt terrible had I just ignored this only to learn a month later that the sweet little old lady up the road was scammed by the same letter. What else should I do??? posted by: 419scams (reply) post date: 08.14.06 (7:31 pm) Most governments have a 419 scam division. I figured it was a scam and decided to follow the instructions in the letter and contacted my international claims agent. I was told a check for $2,250 would be sent to me in order to process my winnings. I got the check and took it bank and asked that it be collected before being credited to my account. Low and behold the check was a fraud.
